Hi there! My name is Madison Parks (she/her) and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate.
I grew up in Texas and earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University. In 2019, I moved to Washington State for graduate school and attended Antioch University in Seattle, where I completed my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2023. Following graduation, I gained experience in community mental health before establishing my own private practice.
My therapeutic approach is collaborative and includes a person-centered, strengths-based lens. I often utilize Structural Family Therapy, Systemic Family Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. I also bring in skills and strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy as appropriate.
In my work I enjoy incorporating creative interventions such as art projects, games, and other ways to make the process of therapy more enjoyable and effective. This includes bringing experiential work into the therapeutic space such as practicing a new way of communicating with your family members.
My work is neurodiversity-affirming. I was diagnosed with Dyslexia as a child and remember how frustrating it was trying to operate within a system that was not built for my brain type. While I do not have your same lived experience of neurodivergence, I have an understanding of what its like to feel “othered” by the education and work systems. My personal experience and extensive training in neurodiversity have shaped my therapeutic approach with all clients.
I am also LGBTQIA+ affirming and have experience working with gender diverse clients. You are the expert on you and I will always honor that.
I am committed to being culturally responsive. I accomplish this by ensuring that my continuing education includes training on culture, race and ethnicity, and continuously evaluating my own biases and privilege.
